If you've ever been to the canberra airport you will know that gate 11 and 12 are in the area with the Qantas lounge. You will also know that Obviously every one is a member of the Qantas club or else there would be a water fountain (at least), vending machines or even a cafe.
There you are at the airport with a bit of hand luggage and a laptop - which to get in to the departure lounge you have to take the laptop out of the case put through the x-ray scanners, put back in the bag - a pain in the butt. You do this, then get up to the departure lounge, your 'plane is delayed an hour and your options are to go back down stairs, check your luggage through more scanners, go upstairs to the other departure gate area where there *are* bars then before your flight come back down stairs, check your luggage again and then go back upstairs to your departure gate - all because the doors between the two areas seem to be perpetually locked. If you have kids, I am sure it is worse.
Wake up people! Not everyone flies enough to be a Qantas member and therefore it'd be nice if there were some refreshments conveniently available without them having to lug their luggage all about the place and go through the scanners a minimum of three times. Or perhaps lockers. Sheesh.
A friend saw this in(s)ane muttering and exclaimed to me, "AND they've banned chewing gum at the canberra airport!
". He was in search of gum to cure ear popping, but to no avail. Gum is banned at the airport (or does this rule apply in Canberra in general?). Is it just the sale of gum or does this mean if you get caught with gum they take it away from you? If anyone knows the answer, lemme know.
