Add page to: Add page to: So, while road rage is not really an overly desirable trait in anyone, it seems to me that this trait should be encouraged in public transport bus drivers.
You get on a bus on the same route day after day and interest in the surrounding scenery wanes over time. You try to avoid making eye contact people with the same people day after day (and even if they are not the same people, they still are). You smile at the odd few people who you know are not going to take this form of recognition as an invitation to chat, or god forbid, bond.
All in all bus trips tend to be pretty non-eventful, even with a good book.
If, however, your bus driver has a severe case of Road Rage, this gives you a reason to look at your fellow passengers without fear of repercussion. Your look is simply a rolling of your eyes, and perhaps even, if you are feeling generous, a smile that says, "Wacko".
The little grey haired ladies, who irritate the shit out of you most of the time with their conversational dedication to medicinal complaints, suddenly become interesting as their lips purse in disapproval and their hands start clutching at their chests in an attempt to prevent a pending heart attack that is directly related to the foul expletives streaming from the bus drivers mouth.
The constant and loud honking which punctuates, or is punctuated by the loud descriptive and black language of the driver, serves to jolt everyone into waking up and perhaps even, saves them from polluting their bodies with coffee which would do the same, but less effectively.
All in all, road rage in our public bus drivers makes for serious entertainment which cost you no more than the price of your bus ticket (which you were going to pay regardless).
It should be encouraged.
This should not be really necessary, but for all you humourless people out there it may relief you to know these thoughts were written with the aid of a sense of humour.
