about a minute
put sage in large mug, pour in hot water, let tea infuse for about a minute and then strain until the liquid is cool enough to gargle with.
Gargle about half the tea and slowly drink the other half while it is still warm. It is recommended that you drink no more than one cup per day.
Having a cold once and not being able to breathe normally, I decided to consult my 'Natural Remedies for common complaints' book (written by Belinda Grant Viagas) to find something... nay... anything that would help me breathe.
It was also late so a quick shop bought solution was not really an option. It turned out the answer was sage tea. Having personally experienced the benefit of sage tea for a cold/sore throats (gives you that 'ah-i-can-breathe-again' feeling that vicks vapour rub provides) I tend to share this gem of wisdom on a regular basis. Thus the entry on my website.
It's also said that Sage Tea is useful for applying as a hot pack on varicose vains and other ailments or sipped for a daily lift when suffering menopause but I haven't tried it for these purposes so cannot comment. You'll have to buy the book for more details :)
