Gift List
"It's my mother who started it, her idea that a list cuts down the likelihood of unwanted presents while, if it's long enough, still allowing the gift-buyer choice. And so what if my father's list always goes no further than brandy and socks? It could, if he wanted it to."
'World of Chickens', Nick Earls
- Silicon bake ware - cake 'tins', muffin 'trays', etc.
- A full sized ladder. (I just *need* one... ok?)
- Outdoor dining table/chairs - wooden
- Esky
- Some good saucepans - I've got back into the cooking thing of late and am mourning the lack of good saucepans in my house
- Trestle table/s - while I'd use them a lot, they'd be the perfect gift even if I only ever used them for Australia Day/Hottest 100 BBQ...
- Lavender smelly stuff... eg. bath salts, massage oil, etc (NOT perfume)
- Bookshelves - most of my books are [still] stacked in a wardrobe at the moment... searching for a particular book always means landslides and pain.
- One of those taser coats. I think they could be fun. Plus if you are in a sleazy joint (well... you might be if you had one of these coats - just for fun) you'd see those-who-touch punished! >:)
- Flowers... or plants they are always nice. (Being the spoilt brat I am, I have a number of delightful friends and family who give flowers reasonably often but it's still always nice to get them... and it's always a nice surprise.).
- A holiday (overseas preferred)
- Solar lights - I have some but still after about 10-12 more.
- More magnetic poetry - I'm addicted. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't be encouraged.
- A freezer - just a small chest one.
- Jewellery/beading crimping pliers - I look every now and then when I'm a store that's likely to sell them, but so far... no luck.
- Deci Dela perfume by Nica Ricci (I don't get it as often as I like because according to what seem to be pretty reliable rumours, it's no longer stocked anywhere in the country and it now has to be ordered from overseas gruddammit!)
- Rubies, not diamonds - thanks all the same >:)
- A book you are sure I would like - can be second hand or new... it's the content that counts. Book vouchers work too, though I got a Harry Potter one with the last book voucher I was given and I'm sure the person thought I'd get something more 'adult' (Heh! A huge expectation of someone who asked for and received a swish set of Blinky Bill for their 18th). I'm still on the look out for a fictional novel based on Jung and Freud that I once read and then stupidly gave away called 'The Glass Ball'.
- I like to own DVD's of television programmes and movies that I like and love (some are just to ward of boredom while others I'm sure I *need*) - I swear those with the power to make or break the shows take more notice of the profit margins rather than the ratings - and I'm kind of sick of getting addicted to something new and having it endbefore it's time or be under review with a shaky future because it's not making money. I don't want to be ripped off but I'm more than happy to vote with my wallet (or have you do it on my behalf) for stuff I enjoy
*Donations toward any or all of the above are acceptable ;)
Look what I got!
My beautiful friend in Ireland sent me a wonderfully crazy gift that made me smile. She sent it, apparently, for no particular reason at all.
For every insane list, there is a list of how much your friends love you...
Thanks...
- Thanks to the crazy loveable friend in Ireland who sent me the crazy loveable gift containing the book, 'I'm SO over faries', a pink (and I mean PINK) bag - complete with toy poodle, a pink address book, a pink note pad (with faries on the cover) and some chocolates.
- Oh... my... grud. Guess what?! My friends sneakily got together and schemed and plotted and bought me rubies. Oh. My. grud. Out of all the things on the list, I really didn't expect to get them EVER. It was the nicest thing. On top of that... I was given lavender smelly stuff oil and body stuff. As well. I really love the necklace and earrings BUT I love you all more for getting together and doing something so nice for me. I really only ever put the ruby, not diamonds thing on the list as a guide for the delightful guy that I'm optimistic in thinking I might one day meet. It's probably for the best my friends took the initiative :P - August 2005
- Thanks to Miss Cat (miaow!) for the stunning rose and native flower combo... that she gave me for practically no reason at all - it made my day! :) - 6 July 2005
- Thanks to the person who anonomously sent me a brand new copy of The Old Man and Mr Smith. I thought it was out of print. I was delirously happy to get the book but have no idea who to thank. You are a champion! (It came to me in the post with no clue as to who it was from... of course, I have my suspicions :)
