Hi all,
I'm supporting the movement that is lobbying the State Parliament to support change to about 70 South Australian laws to remove discrimination against same-sex couples. I have a personal stake in this issue as you know, so your support will also be supporting MY future rights to love and live with who I choose.
Let's Get Equal is a lobby group set up for this purpose, and they have a website. http://www.letsgetequal.org.au/submission.html
On that page at the bottom you'll see two links - one for an email to Rob Kerin, the Leader of the Opposition, and one to all members of the Upper House (Legislative Council).
Offering your support requires only a moment of your time. The email messages to both are written for you, though you have the ability to change the text before you send it off if you want. So if you send both of these emails I would be very grateful. You need to put in your name and address to show you're a resident of South Australia, but nothing gets saved, so you won't get spammed . Once you submit the email form on the website, you will receive an email to confirm you are legit, but that's it. You may get a reply from politicians though !! :)
Also, if you wanted to help out a bit more, if you could forward this email and/or the URL around to a few of your friends, that would be great. Those of you at large organisations... Well...that could end up being *very* helpful ;)
There is no need to inform me if or when you choose to show your support. Life should be about personal choice, after all? Shouldn't it? :)
