"Take my Book, Take my Wash, kick me right square in the crotch...
I don't care, I'll still see, ths movie Whedon's made for me..."
- Serenity in 2000 Words or Less (See also Mosquito)
An email from a delightful friend of mine - I hadn't heard of such products previously and thought there may be others out there who may be interested to know such things exist or who want to give them a go.
My first thought was, 'Holy Cr*p batman!', I then did some more reading and discovered the concept has been around since the 1930's. Still most people I pop quizzed hadn't heard of these as well and many insisted I didn't explain what the product was/did.
Blessings beautiful women
May we reclaim our womanly power and feel the deep connection to our bodies and the earth that sustain and bring us life!
I'd like to share with you on a matter of personal feminine hygiene, so from one woman to another I trust you are up for it... If not, block your ears now ;)
I personally can not think of one disadvantage to the use of this awesome product: the menstrual cup - and I've researched it a fair bit... The only logical reason I can even guess as to why it is not readily available here in shops yet, is because it could suggest a loss of profit for some major sanitary companies? [hmm... and from discussions with mangers of my local health stores, possibly a fear of sales failure, or a lack of profitable mark-up?] whatever the reason, I am now aware!! We must begin somewhere and this is why I am sharing with you... I feel it a real shame that women are not aware of such an option, in these times of open-mindedness especially, and so month to month, year in year out, we are spending $$$ (not to mention the GST on an essential item!), contributing to land fill with oodles of disposables, putting up with smell, mess & discomfort, and most importantly to me, using chemically mass-produced material into a soft and delicate space. So I would like to share my knowledge of this revolutionary product (invented in the 1930's!) and invite you to check out it out for yourself:
Consider just one of the benefits of 'breaking even' in less than a year - saving hundreds of dollars over years! (the one will last years) ... No more submitting to the government when it comes to this little baby! ;)
and...
It's eco-friendly - In 1998, 7 billion tampons and 12 billion sanitary pads and their packaging were disposed into landfills and sewage systems in the U.S. alone. With landfill and pollution problems on the rise, we can play our part in reducing the serious eco-footprint of feminine hygiene by opting for an alternative....
No toxic shock syndrome - The serious and sometimes fatal Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is caused by toxin-producing strains of the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium and has been linked to the use of conventional, rayon-based tampons.
then...
When it comes to concern for what we put into our bodies (and especially our delicate internals) I have been opting for the 100% organic all cotton tampons, but even this is not ideal. You know what I mean... costly, too absorbent (dry feeling) or inefficient (leakage), and at times unpleasant, and then there's that string bit... I would much rather feel proud of my womanhood and monthly reminder of regeneration and ability to grow life within me, than feel 'dirty' and self-conscious for these possible side-effects... I realise I'm being rather frank about this all, but I believe we have nothing to hide. I AM proud to be a woman! And it's high time I stopped pandering to what the government and therefore shops tell me I must use, thereby creating an air of 'something to put up with' each month! I am actually looking forward to my next cycle with the possibilities this little dowhatsee brings about...
If you're inspired to give it a whirl yourself (remember, they offer 3 months return guarantee on rubber and 1 year on the silicone!), let me know and I'd be happy to facilitate a bulk order - you save on P&H! (email me at: ua.moc.tensutpo@rubyn (*))
So i've placed my order (arrives tomorrow!) and will be happy to share my experiential thoughts with anyone interested.
