Mr Dalek Discovers the True Meaning of Christmas (Spoken Word) - You really want to hear this. You *need* to hear it. You can, of course, read Karen Dunn's story over at staggering stories and that's good (it even has photos) but I'd still recommend digging up the narrated version too (available at whomix and staggering stories) as half the joy comes from the Noddy-or-Thomas-Tank-Engine-esque style of narration employed by Tony Gallichan... the audio version brings the story to a whole new level. [gimme more Mr Dalek!]
Greenpeace ask you to help Japan save the whales by urging your sister cities to save whales OR by getting arty and creating an origami whale OR join the I-go website for whales - or perhaps the Japanese love wagon is more your style.
Whether it's one of these things or whether you're a blogging activist or are willing to put pen to paper to write to your local and national politicians - just do something!
I've only known about if for a few days, but I think I'm addicted (as I am to Triple J Unearthed). In this case I refer to last.fm. If you like finding new music that you may not otherwise discover - this site is fabulous. If they get the inclination, musicians can do a bit of self promotion on the site too. Whaddya waiting for... shoo! (So much to hear... so little time). If you download their player (at least in the Windows environment) you can still use your default player as per normal, last.fm sits as an icon in your task bar so you can access it if you want to ban or mark something as a favourite - or if you are listening to last.fm radio. You don't have to use their player it's optional - you can grab a scrobble plugin for the media player you currently use - if you do this, you won't be able to click on little hearts to say I *love* stuff (*rolls eyes*) like you can in the last.fm software. There's an online flash player that will let you listen and mark songs as loved or banned if you don't want to download anything. Similar: Pandora, SHOUTcast
