Well... I think the drought has ended... at least for a few weeks!
Today I won two positions
The first position is an office/admin job that I was referred to by a temp agency. I'm actaully quite happy about this as it will add some *current* general office experience to my resume opening up the variety of jobs I can apply for (all pure office/clerical roles on my resume were 10 or more years ago). It's also out of the city (I haven't worked outside of the Adelaide Metro area since I've been working in the state, so that will be interesting). And I start tomorrow. At 8am. (8am!!). Tomorrow is their casual/pizza day so it's probably a fun day to be starting.
The company is currently looking for a full time person and my role will be to learn the job from the person leaving the company and then teach it to and work with the person who wins the job so they have a few weeks of hand over. While I probably could put my name forward as an interested party, the pay would be significantly less than I'm accustomed to. While it's great to have work - and to do something different for a while, when I get long term work, I really need to be getting a similar pay rate to that which I've become accustomed. Can't wait to start.
The second job is a graphic integration (cut-up graphics/CSS layout) with an online database system. AND... what's more I get to work with a whole range of folks I've worked with in the past (though I worked with them all at different times and on different projects). I adore them all. This job I'll be doing in my own time, outside of normal working hours. I'm excited!
Funnily enough... when I got back to the computer after spending the afternoon in interviews or travelling between them, I found an email from another party who was given my name by a mutual aquaintance, asking for a portfolio of my work as there may be an opportunity ofsome work with his company.
So tonight, as I head off home, the soil I dance on is no longer cracked and dry nor damaged by drought, its soaking up the rain and I can feel the seeds under the earth getting ready to sprout.
With any luck, today is the beginning of the end of my dole blogging days.
Woot!

Hello beautiful goliard, my time on the web has been significantly reduced, however, I have been doing a range of contract jobs and have met lots (and I mean MANY) wonderful people that I enjoy and adore. The variety has been fabulous and having work always beats having none. Mostly I'm enjoying the people and variety.
